| About Regeneration
The work of the Urban Task Force led directly to the creation
by the Government of CABE – the Commission for Architecture and the Built
Environment.
CABE is the champion for architecture in England. Its function
is to promote high standards in the design of buildings and the spaces between
them. It exists
to help and offer advice to all those who create, manage and use the built
environment.
CABE’s aims are:
- to promote design that is fit for purpose,
sustainable, responsive to context, good looking, coherent, flexible and
an expression of functional requirement
- to promote recognition amongst all
stakeholders of the cultural, social,
economic and environmental benefits that better design brings
- to ensure that
our activities embrace all aspects of the built environment, all parts of
the country and all sections of society
- to foster public awareness and appreciation
of good design in architecture and the built environment and encourage public
involvement in its creation
- to incorporate the principles of sustainable
development into all aspects
of our work
- to be open, consultative and accountable in our ways of working and
to
operate cost-effectively
